Resumen:
Rhipicephalus microplus is one of the most widely distributed tick specie. This tick isconsidered the most economically important ectoparasite of livestock in tropical and subtropical partsof the world where it is endemic being also an important vector of pathogens. Due to the populationsof ticks resistant to the synthetic acaricides currently used, it is necessary to search for newcompounds with different mechanisms of action. This is why the objective of the present work was toinvestigate the acaricidal activity of the monoterpene limonene. The ticks were obtained fromexperimental field Camba Punta, SENASA. The lethal activity of the monoterpene was evaluatedusing the technique of the larval packet test. The statistical analysis was carried out using the PoloPlus programme, which allowed us to obtain the lethal concentration 50% (LC50). The CL50% forlimonene in R. microplus larvae was 0.51 µg / mL. In conclusion, the limonene tested in this workhave been shown to display lethal activity against in larvae of the tick R. microplus, suggesting thatthe monoterpene limonene could be a new natural alternative for tick control
