Resumen:
Ir/ã-Al2O3 catalysts for decomposition of ammonia were synthesized by sol-gel method. In order to determine the physical and chemical characteristics we used XRD FTIR, SEM and NMR-MAS of Al analysis. The designed method was effective for the synthesis Ir/ã-Al2O3 catalysts. The samples have the characteristic bands of OH bond and the characterization by pyridine (Py) indicated the presence of Lewis sites with greater acid strength compared with the commercial sample, with absence of terminal OH groups. The analysis of particle size reveals a tendency to a spheroid aspect and the crystal size for all the samples are smaller than the reported in the bibliography. NMR-MAS data showed that the ã-Al2O3 synthesized by us have more octahedral (Oh) Al than tetrahedral (Th) Al. It is related to the higher acid strength of its Lewis sites. XRD analyses show that Ir increases the active sites for the specific reaction and catalytic activity. TEM analysis shows a good dispersion of Ir on the support.
