Resumen:
Here we present the preliminary results of an investigation of ceramics from the southern Andes (Argentina and Chile), were the analysis of Sr isotope compositions were complemented by Nd and Pb isotope ratio analyses. In modern analytical geochemical facilities (e.g. at the Department of Geological Sciences, University of Cape Town, South Africa), it is fairly routine to determine all 3 these isotope systems on a single sample dissolution, with a single elemental separation chemical process. We critically assess whether it is worthwhile for studies of ceramic provenance in the southern Andes to employ Nd and/or Pb isotope data in addition to Sr isotope data.
