Resumen:
Xylitol is a monomeric polyol that containsfive reactive hydroxyl (OH) groups in its molecule. Usually, monomeric polyolswith two OH groups (diols) are used as a chain extender in the production ofpolyurethanes whereas those with three or more OH groups are used as initiatorsfor polyether production or crosslinker for polyurethane production. Linearpolyester polyols are produced by condensation polymerization of dicarboxylic, esters or anhydrides with diols. Bio-based polyols from vegetable oils, lignocellulosic biomass, and proteins have been studied for the production ofbio-based polymers. Vegetable oils are used for bio-based polymers for foams, coatings, adhesives, others. The aim of this work was obtainingformulations of wood coatings based on alkyd emulsion from vegetal oils andxylitol, and their application in wood samples.
