The motivation of this work is to apply the Principal Component Analysis (PCA) technique to a long data series of VTEC over AREQ to study the possible advantages of the technique to represent and, further on, predict the behavior of the VTEC.In this work the vector variable is composed of 96 VTEC determinations (15min sampling rate) thus covering 24h LT interval. Then measurements (for each variable) are obtained for ~20 years (1998-2016).The obtained results show the capability of PCA for reducing the number of vector and coordinates needed to represent the daily behavior (from 96 to 10), loosing only ~5% of variance.
