Resumen:
Insulin Resistance (IR) is an importantrisk factor for health complications in subjects withType 1 Diabetes Mellitus (T1DM) that is inducedby Hyperglycemia (HG) and Hyperinsulinemia (HI)conditions, among other triggers. Considering the rele-vance of impaired insulin action in closed-loop glycemiccontrol in T1DM, in this work, a previous control-oriented Linear Parameter-Varying (LPV) model isaugmented by adding the estimate of the patient´sInsulin On Board (IOB) as a model input. The modelis obtained based on the distribution version of theUVA/Padova metabolic simulator, and allows to in-clude the eect of active insulin on the patient´s insulinsensitivity (SI) and cope with inter-patient variabilityby using a priori patient information. The ecacy ofthis model is evaluated in comparison with the previ-ous control-oriented LPV model which in turn is animprovement of previous representations, in terms oftheir open- and closed-loop dierences with respect tothe UVA/Padova model. In silico results evidence theimportance of including the eects of insulin stackingat the controller-design stage.
