Resumen:
An interruption or decrease in the blood supply to the brain can reduces the flow of oxygen and nutrients necessary to maintain normal cellular functioning. The damage that occurs in the tissue depends on the location, size and duration of the blood supply problem. When a blood clot occludes a brain vessel by reducing blood flow to a specific region of the brain, focal cerebral damage occurs, increasing the risk of cell death in that particular area. The death of neuronal cells in a certain region changes the receptive fields of neurons surrounding the damaged tissue and inhibitory neurons can produce changes in plasticity that affects the properties of the neuronal population in a given region. In this work we developed a simple computational model that takes into account a damaged area in a neuronal population and investigated the effects on information transmission.
