Resumen:
The objective of this work is to study the effect of slag adhered to MgO-C bricks on its oxidation in air at 1000°C (ladle preheating temperature) and to evaluate the effect of the slag ambient degradation on its protective capacity. Results showed a decrease in MgOC bricks oxidation in 30% during tests at 1000ºC due to the presence of a slag layer. Ambient degradation of the slag reduced its protective capacity. After 10 weeks the oxidation degree of uncovered material was almost reached.
