Resumen:
In recent years, interest in biodegradable materials,particularly from starch has been growing due to theavailability and low cost of this polymer. However, ithas a significant disadvantage for several applications,high sensitivity to humidity (Wang et al., 2008)1. In thiswork, acetylation of native cassava starch by a simpleand scalable method was investigated to obtain ahighly hydrophobic material to achieve a solution tothis problem.In the present work we managed to synthesizedifferent acetates of cassava starch of high degree ofsubstitution, hydrophobic and with greater thermalstability than the native starch.
