The Theory of Common Descent: A Semantic Approach

This contribution aims to explicate the theory of common descent (CDT) from a semantic perspective, in particular, from the so-called structuralist view of theories. This works have three sections: in the first one, I briefly introduce structuralism by applying it to classical mechanical theory (CMT); in the second one, I try to elucidate some problems regarding the explanandum of the theory of common descent CDT; and in the third and last section, I present the reconstruction of the basic theoretical element of CDT.
