As a contribution to the IPY project POLENET a joint Argentine-German project wasrealized to carry out gravimetric time series recordings at the Argentine Antarctic stationsBelgrano II (2007) and San Martín (2008). The set-up of the gravimetric stations as well asthe applied instrumentation will be shown, giving special attention to the environmentalconditions and their influence on the operation of the gravity meters and the data quality. Asa main result of the tidal analysis the gravimetric factors and phases of the tidal constituentswere yielded, which will be discussed for both stations also with regard to their geographicalsituation. The resulting residuals will be compared with predictions of the ocean tidal loadingfrom different models. We will discuss how the gravimetric tidal residuals can be utilized toimprove ocean tide models in the vicinity of both stations. Additionally, at San Martín it will bepossible to include direct measurements of the ocean tides gained by continuous tide gaugeobservations.
