Resumen:
The hcp alloys, such as Ti alloys, have a strong tendency to develop crystallographic texture under thermomechanical processing. The inherent plastic anisotropy affects the mechanical properties of the final product. The classic test to evaluate this property is demanding, since it requires uniaxial and biaxial tensile tests, compression and shearing. An alternative and more simple way to estimate the anisotropy is based on determination of KHN (Knoop hardness) [1,2]. However, the reliability ant the scope of this methodology is not well established. At this point the Orientation Imaging Microscopy could help to analyze the microstructure, texture and other aspects of the indented material, to evaluate the limit of the use of KHN to evaluate anisotropy. In particular, the main goal of this work is to evaluate the microtexture of the material in order to associate it with the yield locus morphology determined by the KHN.
