Resumen:
We show a novel approach to the understanding of the results provided by a Principal Component Analysis (PCA), which may be useful for spectroscopist that are unfamiliar to PCA. It is based on re-constructing the spectra under study, through a simple method, only with the portion of the total variance kept by the k principal components under consideration. In this way, the reconstructed spectrum is a visual representation of the kept variance, which allows for a more intuitive interpretation of the results. The potential of this method is shown by applying it to Resonant Inelastic X Ray Scattering spectra measured in Energy Dispersive mode and under total reflection[1], resulting in the straightforward step to the EDIXS technique[2].
