Our goal is to evaluate the capacity of the different forest systems to mitigate greenhouse gases, taking into account the limitation imposed by the climatic and environmental conditions and the management interventions. We will evaluate the capacity of the methanotrophic bacteria to oxidize atmospheric methane, the diffusivity of gases in the soil, the distribution of different fractions of Organic soil carbon and the amount of C accumulated in biomass. We will work in aclimate gradient, from subtropical conditions at the north-east of the country to temperate withand without dry season (from Delta del Paraná to Patagonia region).
