ABSTRACT: MINERALOGY AND METALLOGENY OF THE STRATABOUND COPPER DEPOSITS IN CUSTODIO PROSPECT, SALTA, ARGENTINAIn this study we present a synthesis about mineralogy and metallogeny of Custodio prospect (Salta) stratabound copper deposit. Custodio is included in the Second Metallogenic Epoch. It began from the Upper Cretaceous, together with the beginning of the sedimentation of the Salta Group and concludes in the Middle Eocene. Ore minerals cements conglomerates and sandstones with good textural and compositional maturity. Paragenesis is composed by different copper minerals like chalcocite, covellite, bornite, malachite and azurite, among the most common species. The deposits are small, with limited economic possibilities and copper as the dominant metal.
