Resumen:
Nitro aromatic compound (NAC) sensing is relevant to environmental pollution control and security matters. Fluorescent quenching of films of segmentedconjugated polymers (SCPs) is a promising approach for detection of NACs because their amorphous structures introduce porosity of molecular dimensions and reduceany potential stacking that usually leads to polymer self-quenching. In previous reports, we found the difficulties already mentioned by other authors inestablishing trends for quenching responses of NACs by fluorescent materials in condensed phase. The present report deals with the picric acid (PA) andtrinitrotoluene (TNT) quenching efficiencies in aqueous solution of the fluorescence of films of poly(oligophenylene isopropylene)s with eitherincrease polarity (P3MF > P3M > P3) or longer fluorophore length (P5 > P4 > P3).
