Resumen:
In populations under selection, all data since the start of selection are needed for unbiased estimation of genetic parameters for production traits. Yet, in practice, all data are not always available. Also, when loci are in linkage disequilibrium (LD), including all additive relationships between phenotyped animals may not be sufficient to deal with bias. Here we examine how estimates of heritability are affected by omitting data from selected ancestors and how this can be (partially) overcome by incorporating genomic relationships among animals in populations with strong LD.
