Resumen:
Poor pedigree information as well as a small effective population size is commonly encountered in beef cattle populations. In order to include genotypic information with the goal of having a multi‐trait, a multi-breed or a multiple-across-country genomic selection program implemented in beef cattle, it is essential to optimize the selection process of genotyped animals. This study aims at evaluating the impact of genotyping high-reliability bulls and dams in beef cattle populations of small effective population size in terms of the accuracy of genomic predictions. For this, we used the dataset of the Argentina?s National Brangus Multi-Trait Genetic Evaluation Program.
