Resumen:
This work is focused in the Aconcagua fold and thrust belt located in the northwestern Mendoza province. The main objective of this work is to review the stratigraphy and structure of this region in order to contribute in better interpretations of the Central Andes evolution. We performed a geological survey between Blanco and Chorrillos rivers consisting of a stratigraphic analysis of the autochthonous sector and the construction of a coherent structural profile. We recognized two sets of synorogenic deposits: an Upper Cretaceous sequence known as the Diamante Formation, and Miocene deposits equivalent to the Conglomerado Penitentes. Both show erosional and angular discordances that separate them from the underlying formations, representing evidence of a polyphasic structuration of the Andes at these latitudes.
