Resumen:
In recent years, gaseous emissions have increased to a large extent mainly due to the growth of urban population and the access to lower cost vehicles. Numerous works claim that vehicle sources are largely responsible for the decline in air quality and the increase of greenhouse gases emissions in urban areas. To develop policies and to mitigate emissions it is necessary to know which are the emission sources, which are the contaminants of interest and how much is emitted from each of them. An inventory of emissions allows answering these questions, but also, (depending on the methodology), it also allows to know in detail the dynamics of the most important system variables. In this work emissions of atmospheric pollutant (those that have the capacity to negatively affect the health of the exposed population) and of Greenhouse Gases (those that have the capacity to produce alterations in the planetary thermal balance) were estimated considering the vehicular fleet in Carlos Paz City. The objective of this work was to apply a detailed methodology to estimate the inventory of a small city, taking into account the influence of tourism activity. For this, it was necessary to characterize local driving patterns, the distribution of vehicular technology, the distribution of cold starts, and traffic flow. Emissions modeling considered those coming from the different modes of automotive transport: private cars, buses, trucks, taxis / remises and motorcycles.
