Resumen:
Minthostachys verticillata is an Argentinean medicinal plantand its essential oil showed immunostimulatory activity on humanT and B cells and anti-inflammatory properties. The aim of thisstudy was to characterize the effect of essential oil on macrophagephagocytosis. RAW 264.7 line was used. Cells were exposed todifferent concentrations of essential oil (EO) (0, 0.5, 5, 50, 60and 75 µg/ml) at different times in order to evaluate the effect oncell proliferation, adherence and phagocytosis. For assess adhe-sion and phagocytosis, a suspension of yeast Saccharomycescerevisiae was added to each well in a 10:1 relation. Cells withonly D-MEM and DMSO 0.1% in D-MEM complete were used ascontrol. The results showed that EO treatment did not induce cellproliferation. A significant dose-dependent increase was observedin the number of macrophages that adhered yeast (p
