Resumen:
In this paper I intend to study Ralph Cudworth?s metaphysics in his The True Intellectual System of the Universe by focusing on the concepts of Plastic Nature and Human Soul. In order to accomplish this, I will pay especial attention to the ?Digression on Plastic Nature? in chapter 1 and Cudworth?s treatment of human soul in Chapter 5 of that book. Plastic Nature is God?s main tool to govern creation: ?an inferior and subordinate instrument, doth drudgingly execute that part of his providence, which consists in the regular and orderly motion of matter?. But human actions are not govern by that nature, because human souls have free will and not follow only a natural law. Having both concepts in mind, I will read creation and causation as is presented in Chapter 5 of The True Intellectual System, looking for the causal frame, which can be seen as platonic.
