The semiconductor BiTeI exhibits a rich phase diagram as function of pressure which includes in a narrow range of pressures a Weyl semimetal phase that separates trivial from non-trivial topological insulating phases. In this article we analyze at zero magnetic field the response of BiTeI to an electric field as function of hydrostatic pressure and doping. We focus on nonlinearHall-like currents which have origin in the first-order moment of the Berry curvature, the so-called Berry dipole. We compute from first-principles the Berry dipole and show that the nonlinear response can be greatly enhanced in the vicinity of a topological phase transition.
