Resumen:
The time evolution of the microstructure of ZA27 during heat treatment was determined and analysed, associated to the SIMA (Strain Induced Melt Activation) process. Before heat treatment the samples were deformed by compression with reduction of 18% and 20% in thickness. The temperature of heat treatment was 460°C, 17°C higher than the peritectic temperature. The results showed that the microstructure evolved from a dendritic to a globular structure as expected. The coarsening of the globular structure versus time was measured for each compression ratio showing that the lower ratio produced larger grains than the higher ratio. In addition microhardness results will be presented and discussed
