          Fatigue crack growth tests in mixed-mode II + III were performed onTi-6Al-4V and the 3D evolutions of the crack fronts, measured by SEM afterinterrupted tests, were analyzed with fracture mechanics or a shear-dominatedfatigue criterion applied ahead of the crack front after elastic-plasticcomputations. The latter predicts that the crack growth rate should be a powerfunction of (ΔKII2+ΔKIII2)1⁄2 rather than of ΔG, which appears compatible withthe experimental results.
