Resumen:
In Ecuador there is a lot of electrical accidentsespecially to level residential, due to unknown of people in theelectrical protection necessary for the human safety. Thus, mosthomes do not have protection systems to ensure the lives ofpeople, this situation increases the probability that an electricalaccident that results in the loss of life occurs. This work focuseson the behavior of electrical currents through the human bodycaused by direct contact with nominal voltages to which a personis exposed in their daily activities. Initially, an introduction aboutthis topic is made. After that, a model of the human body and theeffects of electric current on it is presented. Several simulationsof the currents produced in the human body parts due to contactwith residential, industrial and medium voltage levels isperformed using the computer program Alternative TransientProgram (ATP). The most important cases are explained in detailand presented by graphs. In addition a summary of the resultsare presented in a table, obtaining the most dangerous situationsarise when the current enters through the head.
