Resumen:
Background and aims. In order to attend to the impact of the regional cyanobacterial blooms, the aims of this research were: to study the presence of potentially toxic cyanobacteria in the reservoir of Salto Grande Lake, in the Uruguay River, province of Entre Rios, Argentina, (downstream from the reservoir) and on the drinking water network of Concordia urban area.MethodsSix sampling sites were chosen and the samples were collected between August 2008 and June 2009. 38 samples were taken from the lake and river and 76 from drinking water network of Concordia. The phytoplankton analysis was made using an optic microscope and Utermöhl method. The detection of microcystins samples was performed using a HPLC-DAD system. Results and conclusionTotal phytoplankton cells from Salto Grande Reservoir fluctuated between 4.8 x 107 cel.ml-1 and 3.2 x 104 cel.ml-1; and 104 cel.ml-1 and 6.4 x103 cel.ml-1 on the Uruguay River.Microcystis sp. and Anabaena sp. were detected in raw and drinking water.HPLC analysis revealed that from the 69 samples analyzed, 55.07 % had microcystins. From the drinking water samples, 68.18 % had a microcystin concentration higher than 1 mg/l. The presence of high density of Anabaena sp, Rhaphidiopsis mediterranea and Oscillatoria sp cells in the samples of raw and tap water showed that other cyanotoxins could be present. <!-- /* Style Definitions */ p.MsoNormal, li.MsoNormal, div.MsoNormal {mso-style-parent:""; margin:0cm; margin-bottom:.0001pt; mso-pagination:widow-orphan; font-size:12.0pt; font-family:"Times New Roman"; mso-fareast-font-family:"Times New Roman";} p.prrafodelista, li.prrafodelista, div.prrafodelista {mso-style-name:prrafodelista; mso-margin-top-alt:auto; margin-right:0cm; mso-margin-bottom-alt:auto; margin-left:0cm; mso-pagination:widow-orphan; font-size:12.0pt; font-family:"Times New Roman"; mso-fareast-font-family:"Times New Roman";} p.prrafodelistacxspmiddle, li.prrafodelistacxspmiddle, div.prrafodelistacxspmiddle {mso-style-name:prrafodelistacxspmiddle; mso-margin-top-alt:auto; margin-right:0cm; mso-margin-bottom-alt:auto; margin-left:0cm; mso-pagination:widow-orphan; font-size:12.0pt; font-family:"Times New Roman"; mso-fareast-font-family:"Times New Roman";} p.prrafodelistacxsplast, li.prrafodelistacxsplast, div.prrafodelistacxsplast {mso-style-name:prrafodelistacxsplast; mso-margin-top-alt:auto; margin-right:0cm; mso-margin-bottom-alt:auto; margin-left:0cm; mso-pagination:widow-orphan; font-size:12.0pt; font-family:"Times New Roman"; mso-fareast-font-family:"Times New Roman";} @page Section1 {size:612.0pt 792.0pt; margin:70.85pt 3.0cm 70.85pt 3.0cm; mso-header-margin:36.0pt; mso-footer-margin:36.0pt; mso-paper-source:0;} div.Section1 {page:Section1;} -->
