Resumen:
Rap music is increasingly becoming the music of choice of many disadvantaged youth all over the world. Its role in African American?s poor neighborhoods, the origin of the genre, is well known but it is currently the music of choice, either in its original form, or mixed with native musical genres, in such diverse places as France and Brazil. Subaltern Argentine youths are not the exception, and the influence of rap (its rhythm, lyrics and performances) has been notorious since the late 1990s. Among the characteristics this process of globalization of rap entails, we encounter the same kind of sexist and misogynist lyrics that distinguish American rap in its incarnations abroad.
