Resumen:
Flash-flooding pulses are common in uplands after heavy rains. During floods, ethylene is synthetized and root growth is restrained in upland plants. Ethylene-induced responses may continue after floodwaters withdraw. We used Arabidopsis ethylene insensitive mutants to find components of the ethylene signaling pathway involved in root growth inhibition during the post-flooding recovery after a waterlogging pulse (4h). While ein2 and ein3 mutants behaved as Col-0 (inhibited root growth after waterlogging), root growth was not inhibited in the ein4 and ein5 mutants. So, some components of the core ethylene signaling pathway are involved in post-flooding root inhibition but others do not clearly play a role
