Resumen:
This papers focus on male and female labour trajectories in different macroeconomic context, and analyses what is public policy contribution to improve the situation of people facing most vulnerable trajectories. I study the case of the Argentinean labour market, men and women labour trabjectories, and the impact on them of a specific social assistance program. Female and male labour trajectories are analyzed within three different periods of time related with different macroeconomic contexts. The three periods are: i)   the economic recovery of the beginning of the first half of the nineties, ii)  the economic restraint at the end of the nineties (that ended up with the financial crises of 2001), iii) the economic recovery that started in 2003, once the “convertibility plan” was abandoned. The study combines quantitative and qualitative analysis. Based on longitudinal data, transition matrices are built to describe male and female labour trajectories in each period. Once the population group that faces the most vulnerable trajectories was identified, qualitative research was conducted in order to study the case of social assistance policies that aim to improve their labour participation.  Relevant conclusion for policy analysis arises from the research.
