Resumen:
The exposure to airborne particulate matter shows adversehealth effects in urban population. The aim of the present studywas to evaluate oxidative stress markers in human conjunctivalepithelial cells (IOBA-NHC) after the incubation with diesel exhaustparticles (DEP) for 1 hour. The incubation was performed with DEPat concentrations of 50 and 100 μg/mL for 1 hour and the followingparameters were evaluated: glutathione S-transferase (GST), glutathionereductase (GR), thioredoxin reductase (TrxR) and glucose6P-deshidrogenase (G6PDH) activity; reduced glutathione (GSH);lipid and protein oxidation. One-way ANOVA test and Dunnett?stest as post hoc test were used for statistical analysis. The cells exposedto 50 and 100 μg/mL of DEP showed a significant increasein the activity of GST (74% and 99%, respectively, p
