Gold Colloidal Crystals Dispersed in an Amphiphilic Gel

Nanocomposites formed by polymer and nanoparticles are very versatile materials due to their properties strongly depend on the selected matrix, the nature of the nanofiller and the geometrical way in which they are arranged [1] In this work, we report a new procedure to generate and stabilize colloidal crystals formed by gold NPs during a polymerization reaction leading to an amphiphilic physical gel. By this approach the formation of 3D colloidal crystals and their immobilization in the final crosslinked polymer can be attained through a one-step and one-pot procedure.
