Resumen:
PRL-3 (phosphatase of regenerating liver 3) is a subclass of proteintyrosine phosphatases involved in proliferation, migration, invasionand growth tumor, and have been proposed as potential biomarkersof tumor progression. Our aim was to investigate whether PRL-3 isexpressed in pituitary human tumor lesions evaluating its presenceand correlating with some clinical-pathological parameters. Besideswith the objective to analyze a possible PRL-3 participation in pituitarytumorigenesis, this phosphatase and p21 were evaluated in alactotroph tumoral experimental model. We analyzed PRL-3 in 46human pituitary adenomas and Fisher male rats treated with estradiolbenzoate (EB) during 10, 20 and 30 days (n: 9) were used. Normalhuman (n: 2) and rats (n: 3) pituitaries were use as control group(CG). Immunohistochemical technique was applied at photonic andelectronic level and a semiquantitave study by western blot wasused. Statistic analyzes: x2 for the variables: size, function and ki67 in human adenomas. Anova-Fisher and correlate analyze in theexperimental model. From the total human adenomas, PRL-3 wasexpressed in 22 out of 46 with immunolocalization predominantly incytoplasmic level. Interestingly at ultraestructural level some tumorsexhibited phosphatase immunolocalization at plasma membrane. There was a positive relation with tumor size (macroadenomas, x2p
