Resumen:
AbstractAraucaria angustifolia is the most planted native tree in Argentina and it can be managed in long cutting cycles. Thinning treatments applied along the cycle allow for goods production and stimulating the growth of the remnant trees. A sampling was carried out in order to establish if trees older than 50 yr old and larger than 30 cm in DBH increase in diametric growth as a response to thinning. The diametric increment measured in permanent plots indicated that trees grew faster in thinned than in untreated stands. This result was observed in stands between 57-63 yr old and trees between 30-70 cm DBH.
