Migrations as a state of beingAs researchers and curators, we pick some topics to work on, for different reasons. Besides the professional motivations and the problems we have to address, study and reflect upon, which result from the urgency of contemporary times, sometimes there are more profound reasons to focus on certain topics.In the case of my research on modern art, the subject matters of travel, migration and exile were significant to rethink the canonical understanding of the classic narrative of modernism. These topics - migrations, travels, and exiles - are also the starting point and the key to understanding the global contemporary art scene.The Uncertain States Project establishes an effective connection between archives, memory, artworks and the contemporary states of being in the world. In this regard, I would like to start this brief presentation with images illustrating the profound reasons for my commitment to the issue of migration and exile. For the sake of reflection, I would also like to present another archive and some of the artworks included in this project and in my research as an invitation to think with this images.
