Resumen:
The automatic vital signs acquisition aims to reduce the time of data entry, to eliminate the errors that are produced by the transcription, to help in the clinical workflow, to enrich the documentation and to keep it up to date. For several years the Italian Hospital of Buenos Aires has been developing systems for the integration of medical equipment into its Electronic Medical Record system. As part of a plan for continuous improvement and as part of a process of accreditation with the Healthcare Information and Management Systems Society (HIMSS), the need arises to extend the scope of this integration to all hospital medical equipment present in all critical care areas. The newly developed system, besides allowing the user to take the data exported by the multi-parameter monitors and save them in the patient's medical record being treated, adds new functionalities such as validation of the patient's identity and selection of the monitor through barcoding, and compatibility with the various multi-parameter monitors in critical care areas. A high level of user acceptance was achieved and indicators are being generated to quantify the expected benefits.
