Resumen:
The ubiquity of mobile devices, their strong com-putational capabilities -frequently underused by the owners- andtheir close relationship to IoT environments, make them valuableproviders of computing power at the edge, i.e. as an aid to dealwith remote computing servers high-delay communication. Then, researchers have proposed to take advantage of the connectionregularity of groups of mobile devices to fixed wireless networkinginfrastructures, e.g., access points, to scavenge mobile computingresources. However, among the key concerns to achieve such ex-ploitation in an efficient way is providing new scheduling criteriafor computations able to deal with the challenges posed by mobiledevices finite energy sources. The value of considering battery-related parameters for ranking devices capabilities against notusing them has been hardly investigated in the literature. Then, inthis paper, we analyze several job scheduling criteria and providestatistical evidence that support our findings. The experimentsare performed via a simulation software that employs energyconsumption traces derived from real mobile devices, hencepractical utility is ensured.
