Resumen:
Since the discovery of superconductivity in magnesium diboride (MgB2) a lot of effort has been done to understand and improve their superconducting properties. The low cost, light weight and the highest critical temperature (Tc 39K) make this material an excellent candidate to replace the Nb compounds in the development of technological superconductors. The improvement in the critical current density of superconductor wires made by the powder-in-tube (PIT) method, demonstrate the great potential of this emerging superconductor for various practical applications, such as magnets for magnetic resonance imaging (MRI), power cables, motors, energy storage systems, generators, magnetic separators, transformers, etc. In the contrary of the well known High Tc superconductors, this material does not present the weak link problem and it is not necessary to get a good crystallographic alignment of the grains. However, it was found that the Jc depends on the texturing in MgB2 tapes. In this work we will present a Rietveld analysis of the MgB2 core tape for different deformation ratio and composition. We will discuss the correlation of anisotropy in Jc and Hc2 with the texturing of different analyzed samples.
