The neotropical flora has been the subject of local and regional floras as: Flora Mesoamerica, Flora of Guianas, Flora of Ecuador, Panamá, Paraguay, in Brazil: Flora Catharinense, Fl. Rio Grande do Sul, or Sao Paulo and Argentina for ex. Flora Argentina Program or the regionals floras Programs with Neotropic area as Flora of Province of Jujuy, etc. The Organization for Flora Neotropica (OFN), however, is the only International non-profit organization affiliated with UNESCO. Its mission is the production and publication of the inventory of the plants and fungi of the Tropical American region. The monographs are to be prepared with firm scientific basis and they should give information on morphology, taxonomy, nomenclature, geographical distribution, ecology, uses, conservation status, and other pertinent aspects (anatomy, palynology, cytology, chemistry, etc.).
