Resumen:
In this report we studied the effect of the 24-hydroxy-4-cholen-3-one (C24 alcohol), a synthetic CeDAF-12 antagonist, in controlling Meloidogyneincognitalife cycle and infection on tomato plants.C24 alcohol was able toinhibitMeloidogynespp. egg hatching and to reduceinfective J2 larvae mobility. Treatment of infected plants with C24alcoholproduceda significant reduction in the number of galls andegg masses per root system and an overall improvement in the plant growth parameters. Moreover, C24alcoholdisplayeda long term effect as we observed a significant reduction in the hatching ofeggsisolated from treated plantsgalls.C24alcoholisa nematicidethat control Meloidogyne spp. infection probably through the DAF-12 signaling pathway.
