Experimental study of tracer dispersion in non-Brownian suspension flow

The aim of this work is to study the dispersion of dissolved substances in a macroscopic suspension flow (presence of solid and liquid phases) in fractures. The experimental device allows to study optically the local tracer concentration while performing a miscible diplacement in a Helle Shaw cell. We compare dispersion measurements for to flow with and without particles for different values of particle volumetric fraction. The results are analysed in the light of the mechanisms that describe the flow of suspensions and it´s rheological properties.
