Resumen:
The aim of the present work was to determine the importance of
dietary fat present in animal commercial chow on pancreatic
function. For these studies two different commercial chows were
chosen. Sprague-Dawley rats were randomly divided into two
groups. One group was fed with a diet containing 4.0% of fat
whereas the other group was fed with a diet containing 2.9% of fat
(ISO/IRAM standards). Animals fed with commercial chow
containing 4.0% of fat exhibited higher pancreatic flow as
compared with the animals that received a commercial chow
containing 2.9% fat. In addition, the pancreatic flow generated by
rats fed with the diet containing 2.9% fat was too small to allow
measurement of pancreatic components. Present results show that
the percentage of fat present in a particular diet is very important to
evoke a normal pancreatic secretion. Further these results strongly
support that commercial chows should fulfill the recommended
requirements (above 3%) as regards fat percentage to avoid
alterations in physiological functions.
