Resumen:
The type and distribution of metal catalysts on films mesoporous were studied by highresolution electron microscopy techniques such as FEG-SEM and HR-TEM. The purpose ofthis work is to evaluate the growth of carbon nanostructures starting from a controlleddistribution of different metallic catalysts. Nanoparticles of Fe, Ni and Co were deposited bychemical (precipitation from aqueous solutions) or physical (PVD) methods. The growth ofcarbon nanostructures was carried out by CVD and PECVD methods. The results show thatthe mesoporous film regulates the catalyst distribution and, consequently, it controls thegrowth of the structures of carbon. Also, and according to growth conditions and type ofmetal catalyst, it is possible to obtain carbon nanostructures like nanotubes, nano-onions ornanodomes [1,2]. Figure 1 shows a carbon nano-onion structure obtained by CVD onto Fenanopaticles deposited on mesoporous film.Figure 1: Plane-view HR-TEM image of a carbonnano-onion structure grown by CVD method around an ironbasednanoparticle deposited on mesoporous film. Keywords: mesoporous materials, catalyst nanoparticles, carbon nanostructures, HR-TEM,FEG-SEMWork supported by Fapesp, CNPq, and Capes.[1] P.
