Resumen:
We have showed that vit A deficiency modified the heart lipid compositions. In this work, the effect of vit A refeeding on serum and heart phosphatidylcholine (PC) was studied. Male Wistar rats at 21 d age were sweaned onto either a vit A deficient diet (-A) or the same diet with 8 mg retinol/kg diet (control), for 3 months. After that, a vit A deficient group was refeeding with the control diet for 2 weeks. Statistical study by ANOVA test. In serum, the increase of b-OH-butyric acid (p<0.025) and the decrease of triglyceride, cholesterol and  HDLc, (p<0.005) observed in vit A-deficient rats, in relation to control group, were normalized to control values after vit A refeeding,  In heart, the decrease of PC synthesis,  (measured by the incorporation on [14C]choline), and [3H]arachidonic acid incorporation into total lipids and PC (p<0.025) observed in –A rats were also reverses by the vit A refeeding. The addition of Vit A to the –A diet improved those lipid metabolism alterations.
