Resumen:
Research on the development of a closed-loop articial pancreas for automatic regula-tion of Blood Glucose (BG) has intensied inthe past years. However, hyper- or hypogly-cemia remains an impediment to good gly-cemic control. A major source of limitationsoriginates from model uncertainty, specicallydue to the combined eect of the insulin in-fusion system, the Continuous Glucose Mo-nitoring (CGM) and the human glucose re-gulatory system. Moreover, there exists anextremely high inter- and intra-patient va-riability that aects the dynamics of gluco-se regulation, among other variables such asphysical activity and stress. The present re-view provides a general introduction to consi-der such variations in glucose dynamics fromits physiological description and some mode-ling/simulation approaches for controller de-sign.
