Resumen:
Objective: Evaluate the effect of maternal hypothyroidism and T3 or GC-1 (thyroid hormone receptor 1 selective agonist) replacement on uterine implantation, reproductive performance and hormonal profile in the rat. Methods: Hypothyroid was induce in female Wistar rat by daily administration of 6-propyl-2-thiouracil (PTU 0,1 g/L in drinking water) (n>5). The replacement treatment consists in daily i.p. administration of physiological doses of T3 (0,6 ug/100g) or equimolar doses of GC-1(0,3 ug/100g). The reproductive performance (length of gestation, number of pups per litter, pups weight) was monitored. One group of rats was sacrificed on day 7 of gestation and the number of implantation sites was recorded. Progesterone, Estradiol, T3 and TSH serum level were measured by radioimmunoassay. Progesterone receptor mRNA expression was determined by real time RTqPCR. Results: Hypothyroidism decreased the number of implantation sites per rat, the number of pups per litter and weight of the newborn (p
