Resumen:
NEW EVIDENCE OF PHYSIOLOGICAL ROLE OF PROGESTERONE ON R.arenarum OOCYTE MATURATIONArias Torres AJ1,Páez JB1,  Unías L2,Zelarayán LI1.1Instituto Superior deInvestigaciones Biológicas (INSIBIO), CONICET-UNT (Fac. de Bqca., Qca. y Fcia).Tucumán. 2Fac. de Medicina-UNT. anajoarias@hotmail.com In amphibiansprogesterone (P4) synthesized by the follicle has been consideredthe inducer of oocyte maturation for years. However in some speciestestosterone (T) has a central role in this process. The aim of this study wasto elucidate the role of follicular secretion of P4 and T in R. arenarum oocyte maturation.During thereproductive period, 2 lots of adult females of R. arenarum were used: a batch of females intraperitoneal injectionof 200 IU/mL/animal of hCG was applied and another batch untreated was used ascontrol. Hormonal determinations were carried out by TLC and ECLIA in folliclesobtained of both lots at 3, 6 and 9 h. Batches of 20 follicles in 1 mL Ringer (RA)were incubated for 1 h and P4 and T levels were determined. For theanalysis of secretion by TLC 100 follicles were used. The maturation (RVG) andovulation were monitored at each time. The results obtained in vivo by TLC showed that under basalconditions the follicles secreted T and under the action of hCG the folliclessecret P4. The ECLIA results showed that the basal follicularsecretion in vivo of P4 iskept below 1 nM, whereas T increases to 4 nM at 9 h. Under these conditions RVGnot observed. Under follicular stimulation invivo P4 secretion increased between 3 and 9 h while the Tdecreased at this time. Maturation occurred after 6 h and ovulation at 9 h.These in vivo results confirm thephysiological significance of the follicular secretion P4 for RVGand ovulation in R. arenarum.
