Resumen:
Biomedical potential of phytochemicals depends on their ability to modulate redox balance and mechanisms, which are involved in the development of chronic noncommunicable diseases (NCDs). Among them, obesity is a major cause of human morbidity and mortality worldwide, thus bioprospecting studies in flora are encouraged to find bioactive molecules. In consequence, the aim of this work was to establish effects of extracts (100 mg/Kg/d) from infusions of Lantana grisebachii Stuck. (Verbenaceae), Aspidosperma quebracho-blanco Schltdl. (Apocinaceae) and Ilex paraguariensis St.-Hil. (Aquifoliaceae) in adolescent female mice with overweight, after 15-day oral treatment. Weight gain, total polyphenols and oxidative markers (superoxide anion, hydroperoxides and lipoperoxides) were measured by colorimetric techniques in different brain regions (telencephalon, diencephalon, midbrain, brainstem and cerebellum), with results being compared by ANOVA (p
