In this work, it is introduced the synthesis, characterization and the catalytic test of iron pillared clays in the totalcombustion of propane. The catalysts were prepared from a natural clay and pillared with iron oligocations from a solutionof [Fe3(OCOCH3)7OH.2H2O]NO3. Two samples were synthesized, PilcFe10 and PilcFe12, with 10 and 12 meq of ironcomplex per g of clay. After the characterization process we conclude that the former has the best pillaring characteristics.In the catalytic test, the total conversion of propane obtained was about 80 - 90%, for both catalysts but, the PilcFe10 isactivated at lowest temperatures. This behavior can be associated with the texture of the sample, which has a betterinteraction between redox an acidic sites due to a better dispersion.
