Resumen:
This work presents the thermal and energy performance evaluation of two wineries in the province of Mendoza, Argentina (32º40?SL, 68º51?WL, 750m above sea level). The selected wineries have similar building size, equal amount and quality of production but different space distribution and envelope materiality. Vintage (February ? March) was the period selected for analyses because the cooling demand is higher in a winery. Tons of hot material (at around 26-30ºC) enter the winery to be processed at 8ºC while exterior temperatures are still around 38ºC. P winery walls were built with traditional bricks, windows present single glazing and roofs are metallic with standard insulation. H winery walls were built with concrete panels insulated only in the West wall, metallic insulated roofs and double glazing in windows. In situ measurements of air and surface temperature, relative humidity and solar radiation were taken and were studied in relation with energy consumption registers. Proposals of environmental refurbishment for each case were simulated with Energy Plus software. Interior mean temperatures of 18.89ºC and 21.77ºC respectively were obtained without auxiliary energy involved. The simulated interior conditions match and even improve the parameters measured with the use of non renewable auxiliary energy. Advantages and disadvantages of these two cases are discussed. Design feedback and envelope appropriate management criteria are given through recommendations for this climate.
